The thickness of female side is about 0.12 inch(3mm), it is strong for connecting 1/4" npt male brass, bronze and iron pipes. The threads is very smooth with no burrs, don't worry about hurry your hand. NPT threaded is dry seal pipe threads, don't need seal tape.
