PLCC stands for Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier. The PLCC-2 size LEDs are commonly used in car dashboard and gauge cluster illumination. To change the color of your dash lights, you can use these 3528 size LEDs. First figure out what size LEDs are in your dash. Some cars have a typical bulb, while others use a surface mount LED soldered directly to the circuit board. We have them available in 8 bright colors. You won't be let down on how much light these little LEDs put out. The PLCC-2 LEDs operate at voltages from 1.9V to 3.2V depending on the colors. Be careful not to apply too much voltage, otherwise they can instantly burn out! If you want to power them with a 12v source, you can drop the voltage down by either wiring them in series, or with current limiting resistors. The LEDs are polarity sensitive, meaning if you accidentally reverse the positive (+) and negative (-) wires, the LED won't light up. But don't worry, nothing bad will happen - your LED won't be damaged by this. When you flip the wires back to the correct orientation, the LED will light up.
